Gracepointe’s Membership Covenant
Having been brought by God’s grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, we now, in dependence upon His Spirit, resolved to live by faith, and to follow after the core passions of our Lord Jesus Christ: to Love God, love others, and love loud. So we establish this covenant with each other.
To love God is our purpose.
“And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” Luke 10:27
We will endeavor to know the Lord Jesus Christ, not simply to know about Him. John 10:27
We will confess as a body that all things are to the glory of God.1 Cor 10:31
We will not neglect to gather together, or to pray for others, putting our needs after those of our brothers and sisters. Col 4:2; Heb 10:25
We will seek, by God’s help, to live carefully in this world, denying ungodliness and worldly passions. Gal 2,3, Col 2
We will practice complete chastity unless married and, if married, complete fidelity within a heterosexual, monogamous marriage. That the image of God by marriage may be seen. Romans 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 6:15-20, 10:8; Ephesians 5:3.
We will as a body administrate the Gospel Sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) Acts 2:38; 1 Cor 11:26
We will as the bride of Christ make up the body of Christ at Gracepointe. Romans 12 ; I Cor 12
In loving others, we recognize true community.
“And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31
We will by God’s grace: grow, equip, worship, and enjoy God together.
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Eph 4:3
We will be devoted to one another in brotherly love. With humility and gentleness we will patiently bear with each other, forgiving, encouraging and building one another up, exercising watchfulness over each other and admonishing one another when necessary. Luke 17:3; Col 3:13; 1 Thes 5:11; 1 Pet 1:22
We will rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep, and help to carry each others’ burdens. Rom 12:15
We will in the spirit of love submit ourselves to the spiritual authority of the church for the purpose of accountability, exhortation, instruction and in the exercise of Church discipline. Matt 18:17; 1 Cor 5:13
By loving loud, we will strive to reach the world with the glorious Gospel of Christ.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20
We will by God’s grace make Jesus look beautiful by striving for the Supremacy of God in all things. Phil 1:21
We will not hide the glorious Gospel of Christ, but will in joy send it to all the nations starting at home. Mat 5:15, 28:18-20
We promise to bring up our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends. Eph 6:4; 1 Pet 3:1
We will strive to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age, as we wait for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Titus 2:12; 1 Pet 1:14
We will defend and maintain an evangelical ministry in this church by supporting and upholding the preaching of the Word of God 2 Tim 4:2
We will contribute cheerfully, generously, and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations. Matt 28:19; Luke 12:33; 2 Cor 9:7
We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” -2 Cor 13:14
